Lindsey van der Vorm

I am Lindsey van der Vorm, a Dutch visual artist and information scientist based in Breda. With a background in Communication & Multimedia Design and Information Science, I have developed strong visual and analytical skills for making the world around us understandable.

I possess a natural curiosity about the underlying reasons why certain places, ideas, or moments acquire special significance—whether on a personal or collective level. The layered interplay of time, human choices, and attention that underpins this is not always visible and is often difficult to capture in words. The intuitive, quiet world of organic-abstract painting offers me a way to make this meaning accessible through a different medium.

My work begins by immersing myself in a subject and gathering the stories that have formed around it—such as rituals, symbolism, and imagery. Analyzing this 'input' gives rise to a perspective on the work's deeper meaning. I then translate this concept into a painting through sketches and studies. Nature serves as a key source of inspiration and visual language; the organic shapes and structures on the canvas often evoke a garden or a landscape of leaves, clouds, water, and movement. Together, they create a new space where a story unfolds—a space through which the viewer can wander.
